Paris, the capital of fashion – visit all that’s in vogue!

As Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, Lyria Mag unveils the districts that are setting and upsetting trends in the capital and suggests visiting all that’s in vogue.

From Paris’s most trendy district to its most chic

We begin our trendsetter tour of the city in the Bastille district, an area packed with artists’ workshops and fashion boutiques where prices are still accessible.

Almost Famous, an ultra-trendy boutique in rue de Charonne, ticks all the right boxes. Housing a unique style with the creation of the AFI (Almost Famous Imported) label, this is the place to find a wide selection of items by young designers who are already “almost famous”.

33 rue de Charonne
75011 Paris

A little further on... Merci or the meeting of bobo style and social responsibility
A concept store built entirely on social conscience, Merci is where you can unearth a range of both hard-to-find and everyday items made by recognised names or by designers seeking recognition. All profits go to a foundation supporting women and children in Madagascar. As you set foot in the 1,500 m2 floor space with its 10-metre high ceiling, light floods in to greet you through the lavish glass roof. Merci is a place to be thankful for!

Continuing onwards to the trendy Marais district...

Boutique 0044

Well worth the detour is 0044’s flagship store in the heart of the Marais. You will be welcomed by flowers and a mammoth’s skull, examples of the contrast and juxtaposition that create the aesthetics of the interior. Check out the unique design of its “revolutionary romantic” pieces.

Ambre Babzoe
Stop off at the Ambre Babzoe boutique at 14 rue de Turenne, home to an inventive label combining bobo-rock style with a nomadic spirit. The warm, airy and light interior showcases feminine and nomadic designs.

Jean Paul Gaultier
A visit to Jean Paul Gaultier’s boutique is a must. The design is the work of two architects, Alain Moatti and Henri Rivière, who transformed the former Arts de l’Avenir du Prolétariat people’s palace into Jean Paul Gaultier’s headquarters. Symbolism is resonant throughout – the patina of time has been maintained and enhanced with the modernity of state-of-the-art technology. Customers are free to explore the showroom, where catwalks are organised, and the couture room. Not to be missed!

And lastly, chic and shock

Rue Saint-Honoré

For even more in the way of haute couture, visit the three main districts dedicated to ultra chic fashion: Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, Avenue Montaigne and the Left Bank, in the vicinity of Saint-Germain des Prés.

These are home to the iconic haute couture French fashion houses.
Just a short distance from rue Cambon and the Chanel boutique, go and sniff out the latest trends at Colette, the concept store which is always at the cutting edge of fashion. Spread over three large, brightly-lit floors, music and books rub shoulders with designer clothing, perfume and high-tech items – ‘on-trend’ being the only watchword. So, to find out what’s making the biggest buzz in Paris or elsewhere, head to Colette.

Your steps will lead you on an unfaltering path to Louboutin, the mecca of designer shoes, to gaze longingly at the footwear with its legendary red soles! A treat for the eyes as much as the feet, try on a pair of these prized heels – they’re as dizzyingly beautiful as they are high.

For the cutting edge!

Head to Montmartre

This address, in the Abbesses district, has been making a name for itself. Come and discover Spree, a store combining the concept of a boutique and gallery, where cutting-edge fashion designers, interior designers and contemporary artists have been carefully selected and brought together under one roof.

There’s no shortage of on-trend labels vying for your attention, such as Comme des Garçons, Forte Forte, Giorgio Brato and Giulia Persanti. The work of artists like Harvey Benge, Kunzel+ Deygas joins their ranks, and pieces by designers such as F. Kramer and Blaackman are certainly not outshone. If you like the idea of mixing eccentricity with upmarket design, Spree is the place for you!
