Basel cathedral is the must-see part of your visit. Built between 1019 and 1500, it is famous for housing the tomb of Erasmus. Initially built in a Roman style, it was completed in a Gothic style following its partial destruction during an earthquake in the 14th century. On its roofs, multi-coloured tiles form incredibly beautiful geometric motifs. Another feature is the asymmetrical pattern of the arrows overhanging the building. Lastly, the Saint Gallen door is considered a masterpiece of Roman art.
