About you train ticket

What you need to know to make sure your journey runs smoothly.

With TGV Lyria, you can travel in both France and Switzerland. Depending on the country where you made your purchase, there may be some differences in the wording on your ticket.

Here is an interactive illustration of your SNCF or CFF ticket to help you understand these differences:

Your country of purchase :

Good to know

For your TGV Lyria ticket to be valid

When departing from France, your ticket must be punched for any journey between two French cities. If travelling to Switzerland, your ticket does not need to be punched.
In France, be sure to retain your TGV Lyria ticket until you leave the destination station.

• When departing from Switzerland (including departures from Geneva), your ticket does not need to be punched.

• Ensure that the train you are taking is the one you have booked to travel on.

• Observe the conditions of use of your fare.

• Remember to take proof of eligibility for the reductions you have obtained

Overbooking
There is an overbooking system that will allow you to buy a ticket, granting you access to the train, but does not guarantee you a seat: the ticket will give a carriage number and bear the words “place assise selon disponibilités” (“seat subject to availability”). The ticket inspector will be able to help you locate a seat.

Lost or stolen tickets
Under no circumstances will refunds be given or duplicate tickets issued for lost or stolen tickets.
