Switzerland invites you to a real return to basics

Numerous, varied and well-known – Switzerland’s spa centres make it an oasis of well-being, ideal for recharging your batteries through the benefits of water. To start the winter off on the right foot and take full advantage of long week-ends from the beginning of November, there is nothing like enjoying a little rest and rejuvenation in one of these charming establishments!

The traditional version – A course of treatment in Baden that is pure pleasure

In Baden, not far from Zurich, you will find the most mineral-rich thermal waters in all of Switzerland. Discovered by the Romans 2,000 years ago, the thermal waters gush out of 19 springs and envelop this city, which is dotted with forests and offers an atmosphere that could not be more conducive to healing.

Hence the high number of spas here, all centrally located and easily accessible. The public “ThermalBaden” area with its indoor and outdoor thermal pools, the “Limmathof Novum” spa with its bubble tubs and natural treatments and the “Schweizerhof” spa with its Roman baths are amongst the most popular. In Baden, you can choose from a wide variety of treatments to help you get back in shape or simply relax, alone, with friends or with family.

It is impossible to list all the places to be discovered in Baden. The best thing would be to find out for yourself by taking a break in this characterful city!

The urban version – Luxury, tranquillity and bliss in the heart of Lausanne

Located in the historic centre of this city, the Lausanne Palace and Spa is one of the most prestigious hotels in Switzerland. Dating back to the Belle Epoque, it fluctuates between the traditional and the modern, combining city life in a unique setting with views of the Alps and Lake Geneva.

Stylish and sophisticated, the spa invites you to take a wonderful journey in a cosy atmosphere, ideal for being pampered. In addition to the heated pool, whirlpools, sauna and hammam, the spa also offers massages, acupuncture, reflexology, beauty treatments, a fitness centre and more: there is a complete range of personalised services, together with therapists trained in the latest techniques. And let’s not forget the bar lounge, where you can enjoy healthy, organic food.

With its majestic decor and distinctive style, there is no doubt that this genuine palace will seduce you.

The designer version – The thermal baths of Vals: a unique design

Following renovation in 1996 by architect Peter Zumthor, the thermal baths of Vals became the first contemporary building in Switzerland to be declared a “protected building”. Photos of the baths can be found all around the world. Inspired by the mountains, rocks and water, the architect was awarded the Carlsberg prize, the most important award in architecture, in 1998.

From the outside, this building set into the mountainside looks like a huge rock covered with stone slabs from the Vals quarry. Entering the building is like entering a cave. In these thermal baths, designed to enhance physical and psychological well-being, the benefits of water are combined with those of stone, especially in the fire and ice pools, the mineral bath, as well as in the various types of treatment ranging from massage to thalasso..

Add to this a design hotel and creative cuisine based on fresh, local produce… How could you resist?
