Art: Step out on Museum Night into a world of ‘haute culture’

The museums and other cultural venues of Lausanne and the surrounding area invite you to come and enjoy an evening of the arts on Saturday, 27th September. This year, to celebrate the eighth anniversary of Museum Night, Lausanne will be putting its ‘haute culture’ on parade for you to discover all the collections of 2008!

This not-to-be-missed event will kick off the cultural season with 23 museums rolling out the red carpet for this special occasion and hosting an incredible extravaganza with something for everyone. This year, the main partner of the event, the BCV (Vaud Canton Bank) art collection, is holding an exhibition dedicated to women artists past and present…

To end the evening on a festive note, you are also invited to a concert to be held in the unusual location of the FMR Museum in the Usine Tridel (formerly an incineration plant) which will take place between 10pm and.....4.30am!

Dance: Be amazed by the 11th International Dance Festival

With the arrival of autumn, Lausanne puts contemporary dance in the spotlight with its 11th International Dance Festival. The city, known in particular for being the home of Ballet Béjart, will be staging the latest major Swiss and international dance productions.
From 23rd September to 5th October 2008, in collaboration with FranceDanseEurope and to raise awareness of the dance arts in Europe, various locations in Lausanne will be opening their doors to you: the Sévelin 36 Theatre, the Arsenic Theatre, the Octagon Theatre in Pully, the Le Bourg café-theatre and the MUDAC museum of contemporary design and fine arts.

In addition to the festival, there will also be dance workshops, post-performance meetings and, finally, an evening of pure relaxation on 4th October as the festival draws to a close.

Out and about: Experience the Grape Harvest Festival in Lutry and raise a glass to friendship

In September, the many vineyards in Switzerland celebrate the grape harvest with unforgettable festivities. So, for its 62nd anniversary, the Grape Harvest Festival will once again have Lutry teeming with activity over three days during the weekend from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th September.

Located in the countryside only a stone’s throw away from Lausanne, the old town of Lutry invites you to celebrate, as it does every year, its prestigious wines, historical heritage and enchanting landscape in a lively and friendly atmosphere. This is an event filled with surprises… The programme includes about ten concerts featuring different types of music (including jazz, rock, etc.), about 600 children in costumes parading through the streets along with beautifully decorated floats, and a huge country buffet where you can sample local products.

An event to be enjoyed to the full!
