An exceptional show and an amazing experience
A celebration that is unique in its genre, the Fête des Vignerons in Vevey, Switzerland, has been honouring the world of winegrowing and the soul of the Geneva region, Lavaux and Chablais once every generation since 1797. From 18 July to 11 August, the incredible show created by the Ticino director Daniele Finzi Pasca brings together more than 5,500 actors and extras for a special show. Combining tradition, emotion, impressive choreography, poetry and technological prowess, it tells of the cycle of the grapevine and of life in an arena with 20,000 seats, fitted with a huge stage that is illuminated with LED.
During the three week period of the Fête des Vignerons, Vevey is transformed into a town of celebration, a true cultural and gourmet festival that welcomes visitors all over the town. A festive perimeter area is reserved for pedestrians, stages, events for children, and a variety of catering options. The festival welcomes twenty thousand spectators from morning to night-time, along with visitors at the fringe of the show too. Since all cantons accept the invitation from the Confrérie des Vignerons (the Guild of Winegrowers), Vevey becomes the summer capital of Switzerland: the festival period is interspersed with twenty Cantonal Days and guest of honour days. Numerous costume parades up to 3 kilometres long punctuate each day of the festival.
