Switzerland <> France: 45 years of high-speed connections A special pastry for a special occasion!

Suisse <> France is a unique pastry created by Michel Roth and Danny Khezzar to celebrate 45 years of travel and connection between our two countries. In 1981, the first TGV connected Paris and Geneva. Since then, millions of kilometres have been covered by our trains. And most importantly, millions of passengers' stories have begun, continued or changed course aboard… or simply lasted the length of a journey. Forty-five years later, we are celebrating this story in our own way: with a generous, surprising and unmistakably Franco-Swiss creation.

We wanted to celebrate this anniversary with the people who have been part of this story for 45 years: you.

Because a TGV Lyria journey is all about connection and discovery. So, to celebrate this wonderful Franco-Swiss story, we have a surprise to share with you: a gourmet creation to be enjoyed in France, Switzerland and on board our trains. 

 

Our 45th anniversary certainly deserved a pastry. And we want to share it with you!

The Suisse <> France, a French classic with a Swiss twist

For this anniversary, we asked starred chefs Michel Roth and Danny Khezzar to create a pastry that embodies TGV Lyria.

  • Their starting point? A classic French pastry.
  • Their destination? Switzerland.

Beneath a delicately crisp craquelin topping, the choux pastry gives way to a roasted walnut filling. It is paired with a rich Gruyère double cream with just a hint of vanilla. And for that extra Swiss touch, the craquelin and praline use walnuts grown in Thurgau by the Gubler family. The result? The taste of two countries in one bite.

On 3 October 2026, the pastry creation will board three TGV Lyria trains. You’ll be able to enjoy it on three routes:

  • Paris > Geneva – train 9776
