The full experience: The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland
On board the panoramic trains of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland, you can enjoy the unmissable sights and views of Switzerland all year round. Climb aboard, make yourself comfortable and prepare to be amazed – whatever your chosen itinerary.

Our top pick: the GoldenPass Express
If we had to choose, we would definitely pick the GoldenPass Express.
The panoramic train takes passengers between Interlaken and Montreux. The landscapes that pass by seem to have been specially created for this scenic journey and offer unforgettable views: cows grazing peacefully in lush green pastures, traditional wooden chalets and, in the backdrop, the majestic peaks of the Alps. Just before Montreux, a fantastic panorama opens up onto the sparkling Lake Geneva. As the train winds its way unhurriedly down the hill, you can already feel the Mediterranean atmosphere of the Lake Geneva region. The GoldenPass Express (MOB) is part of the panoramic GoldenPass Line, and is also part of the Grand Train Tour of Switzerland. Learn more
For lovers of water: cruise on Lake Geneva
For 140 years, Belle Époque ships have sailed on Central Europe’s largest inland lake, offering dream cruises between Switzerland and France.
The view from the shore takes in the harbours and castles (Chillon, Morges, Rolle, Yvoire, etc.), the hillsides (Lavaux UNESCO and La Côte) and the snow-capped peaks of the Swiss and French Alps. Each landing stage is also the departure point for an exciting city tour (Geneva, Lausanne, Montreux, Vevey) or an excursion into the surrounding area. Learn more
For the foodies: the Cheese or Chocolate Train
Gourmet travellers can choose from two options.
- The Chocolate Train, which connects Montreux to the Cailler chocolate factory (Nestlé) in Broc, is a must for all cocoa addicts and rail enthusiasts. It is impossible to visit Switzerland without tasting its most famous speciality: chocolate. The Montreux Oberland bernois SA train company has dedicated a special route to this sweet treat – a temptation for some and a real addiction for others. Passengers travel in 1st or 2nd class by Belle Époque coach.
The Cheese Train. The day starts with a GoldenPass MOB train ride from Montreux or Zweisimmen. At Château-d’Œx, the secrets of making alpine cheese will be revealed to you. At the Le Chalet restaurant, the cheese maker uses 200 litres of fresh milk to produce ‘Le Chalet Bio’ cheese. The demonstration is carried out in a traditional way, over a wood fire. You’ll have time to take a break in this rustic setting and enjoy a fondue. On the first floor, the model of the GoldenPass MOB model railway will delight young and old alike. The restaurant staff will also give you a souvenir bag to take home. In the afternoon, head to the Musée du Pays-d’Enhaut where you can discover the treasures of local craftsmanship and the art of paper cutting. The return trip home or the rest of the journey with the GoldenPass MOB trains is free. Return seat reservation is recommended, but not included in the price.
