Feel the festive magic 🎄🎅
In December, Christmas casts its magical spell on Switzerland. Festive markets in Basel, Zurich, Lausanne and Geneva charm visitors with their wooden chalets, handcrafted creations, local delicacies and glittering lights. It’s the perfect place to experience the enchantment of Christmas!
Our favourite is the one in Zurich – just step off the TGV Lyria and you’re practically there! Between the Christkindlimarkt at the Zurich main station, the Wienachtsdorf in front of the opera house and the Dörfli in the old town, there is magic to be found around every corner in Zurich at Christmastime.
A fresh start to the year💨🏔️
January is the perfect time to get out in the fresh air. Whether you enjoy skiing, snowshoeing or simply admiring spectacular scenery, Switzerland is the place for you. Here are our tips on the top ski resorts.
Our favourite resort is Verbier, in the 4 Vallées ski area, with 410 km of slopes to explore opposite the Mont Blanc mountain range. To get to Verbier, take the TGV Lyria from Paris to Lausanne (3 hours 41 minutes), then catch a local SBB train (1 hour 20 minutes).
February – heart-stirring romance or hearty fare? ❤️😋
Are you the romantic type, or is the way to your heart through your stomach? Maybe you’re a bit of both. Celebrate Valentine’s Day in Switzerland with your friends or loved ones – with lots of chocolates (that will melt your heart!) and the essential ingredients for a heart-warming Swiss meal: will it be half-and-half cheese fondue, rösti or papet vaudois? Choosing is the hardest part.
Our favourite chocolatiers are La Bonbonnière in Geneva, Lindt in Zurich, Blondel in Lausanne and Laderach in Basel.
